Treasure in the Royal Tower walkthrough

Bedroom
Pick up your room pass key from the desk. Look at your locker card in the desk drawer. Take the menu from the top drawer of your dresser. Open the magazine on the table and read how to get fingerprints. Check your phone messages. Walk over by the radiator and notice that it must be broken. Open your suitcase and read the brochure. Exit your room and head downstairs to talk to Dexter, the hotel manager. You may ask him to mail your letter for you. Talk to Dexter about everything. He will give you a chore to do. Go down to the basement. On the way, you’ll pass Lisa in the lounge. Talk to her about everything. While you’re in the lounge, read the two books in the bookcase. Check your watch. If it is still before noon, you can catch Jacques in his office and get the boots. If not, go back to your room and set the alarm for 9 a.m. Go to the basement and talk to him twice. He will give you Professor Hotchkiss’s boots. If the ski office is closed, take the paintbrush on the door ledge. Try out your locker (#310) in the next room (the combination is 5-1-7). To open the locker, turn the dial to the left until you reach 5, then click the triangle above the number. Turn the dial to the left until you reach 1, then click the triangle again. Finally, turn the dial to the left until you reach 7 and click the triangle a final time. The locker won’t open. Talk to Jacques twice. He will tell you that the combination 5-1-7 is for locker 311, not 310. Open locker 311 the same way and look at everything of Lisa’s. Go up the elevator to Professor Hotchkiss’s room, #214. Knock on her door and return the boots to her by looking down and putting them in front of the door. When you turn away, you will hear the door open and close as she gets them. Take the elevator downstairs to talk with Dexter. You will get stuck in the elevator. Push the alarm button and discover that it doesn’t work. Turn around, look up, and find a trap door. Push it and in the elevator shaft, find a crate and climb on top of it to get out. After you get back to the hall, head down the stairs to talk with Dexter and let him know the elevator is broken. He tells you that the lights in the upper spiral staircase are out and asks you to check the circuit breakers. Go down to the basement to the right of where you turn to go to the ski office and face the circuit breakers. Move the top three levers on the right. To reset the elevator, notice the elevator control box on the left side of the circuit breaker box. There is a lever to reset the elevator there-pull it down. Go back up the stairs and notice the lights to the upper staircase are on. Ask Dexter about your radiator again. He will tell you that you fixed the circuit breaker and then he will give you another errand. Go up to Professor Hotchkiss’s room and ask her what she wants for dinner. Go back downstairs and tell Dexter her order. He will tell you to tell her that she has to order something off the menu. Go back upstairs and tell Professor Hotchkiss Dexter’s message. She will tell you to get her a menu. Slide the menu under her door. When she makes a decision, go back downstairs and tell Dexter. He will tell you to go downstairs and tell Jacques to get the bag of chicken legs out to defrost, so go do that. Go back to your room and set the alarm for 9 a.m. if you can’t meet Jacques in his office. When you can, talk to him about everything. Once you tell Jacques about the chicken legs, go upstairs to the lounge and talk to Lisa about everything. Then, return to your room your radiator will be fixed. Take the oil can next to it. Set the alarm for 8 p.m. Take the elevator to the basement and climb out through the top. Climb up the metal ladder against the wall. When you are near the top you will notice a grate that is falling off and an open vent. Swing across to the vent and crawl forward through it until you come to the grate leading into the library. Open it and jump down. As you start to go down the stairs, you will hear someone coming. Quickly turn around and go back into the vent. Watch Dexter type in the code for the alarm and search the library. When he is gone you can safely enter the library.

Library
Look in the desk and read An Atlas of the United States. Note the longitude of Wisconsin is 90 degrees West. Notice the dust on top of the desk. Use the paint brush on the dust and then use that on the alarm key pad to figure out the code. (3, *, 7, 2). Try it out. If it says approved, you have done it correctly. Find the globe and move the needle to the longitude you found in the atlas (90 degrees), then click on the top knob to open it. The paper inside has the clue for the compass puzzle found behind the plaque above the fireplace (-15, 10, -5). Go to the fireplace and click on the plaque to open it. Move the compass to each number. Every time you move it click on the top green button. When you do this successfully you will hear a creaking noise as the door to the secret room opens upstairs. Look around the library at all the books. Especially note the books on Marie Antoinette lying on the floor written by Professor Hotchkiss. The other book is the one about Marie Antoinette’s famous portrait, which is on the small table to the right of the spiral stairs. Go up the spiral stairs and turn left to go into the secret room. Pick up the lighter on the desk and use it on the candle to get an ornate key. Read the letter next to the candle. Turn around and read two books about Dexter, one good and one bad. Blow the candle out and leave the library through the main doors. Go to your room and set the alarm for 8 p.m. Go downstairs to Dexter’s desk and open the drawer on his desk. Get the key from inside. Look at everything else on the desk. Take the elevator to the first floor and enter the library. Open the door and the alarm will go off. Quickly go forward two steps, turn, and head for the alarm. Push buttons 3, *, 7, 2 and the alarm will turn off. Go up through the vent and climb down the ladder to the bottom of the elevator shaft. Turn around and find the lever that is stuck. Use the oil can on the lever and open the grill. Go down the stairs and turn left toward a door with six sliding locks. The combination will change every time you play. Follow the hall around to the left where you hear sawing noises. See Jacques sawing something and confront him. He will eventually give you the code to his locker (2-6-6-5). After he leaves, turn and get the sword tip from the tin soldier. Go up the stairs and through the passage. Go back to the basement and open Jacques’ locker. Look at the letter from his fiancĂ©, read the diamond chart and the immigration letter. Click on the blue medallion and you will get bonked on the head. You will wake up in your room and the phone will be ringing. Answer it and talk to Jacques about everything. Listen to your voice mail. Set your alarm for 8 a.m. Go downstairs and talk with Dexter. Be honest with him about the dirt on your shoes. Ask about the garden and the place his father liked to go and think. He will tell you there is a key in the shed. On your way to the basement, talk to Lisa. Go to basement and go through the door in the locker room to get outside.

Garden
Go forward to the shed. When you enter the shed, turn to your left and go toward the work benches. The key you are looking for is on the peg board near the screwdrivers. There is also a newspaper clipping and instructions for the ski lift machine you need to read. Go back to the castle door, but don’t go inside yet. Turn around and take three steps forward. Click on the No Trespassing sign and pass it to get to the secret garden. Go to the vine covered wall and open the gate by using the key from the shed and turning the circle three times. Go forward and turn left toward the sundial and a statue on the wall. Turn the sundial to the left to move the head of the statue. Go to the statue and pull the lever in the back of its head. Take the box out and use the ornate key you found in the library’s secret room to open it. Take the red medallion. Quickly go back inside before you freeze! Go to your room and set the alarm for 1 p.m. Talk to Lisa and she will tell you that she saw Dexter carrying some sort of green ornament outside by the shed and that you should check it out. Go outside and look around. You won’t see anything, so turn around and go back inside. You will be locked out. Hurry over to the shed and start up the ski lift machine. Pull the third lever twice then the second lever twice to operate the ski machine. Dexter will come out, see what’s wrong, and take you back inside. When you are back safely, go to room 214 to talk to Professor Hotchkiss. She will give you a question to answer. Once you answer her question correctly, she will tell you to meet her in the lounge between 3 and 5:59 a.m. Go to your room and set the alarm for 3 a.m. Go downstairs to the lounge and talk to Professor Hotchkiss about everything. She will give you a copy of her room pass key and let you know that you can inspect her room while she is in the lounge. Go up to her room now and check it out.

Professor Hotchkiss’s Room
Once inside, read her notes next to the typewriter. Open her briefcase and read the letter. Move the pillow on the couch and take the blue medallion. Go over to the dresser and watch the video on her recorder. When it stops, place the battery pack on the recharger. Go back to your room again and set the alarm for 8 a.m. Go out to the shed and get the green medallion on the machine to the right of the ski lift machine. Don’t let the rat bite you! Return to your room, call your friends, and listen to your voice mail. Set your alarm for 3 a.m. and go back to Professor Hotchkiss’ room to watch the rest of the video. After viewing the last part of the video, leave her room and turn right to the very end of the hall where you will find the circular room with the peep hole you just saw in the video. Peep through that hole with each medallion and notice the location of the symbols (red is to the left, blue is to the right, and green is in the middle). Take the elevator to the first floor, enter the library, deactivate the alarm (3, *, 7, 2), go up the stairs, through the vent, and down the shaft to the room under the basement. Solve the door puzzle again and go to where you saw Jacques sawing. Use the skeleton key on the rod iron gate.

Tower
Solve the chain puzzle, then move across the stepping stones. Go left down the hallway and you will come to what looks like a chess board. The idea is to move the three (or four) pieces around the board until each lands on top of their corresponding colored square. This opens the stairway all the way to the top of the tower. Go up the stairs and open the door to the tower. Walk forward several steps and solve the gold leaf puzzle on the wall. When you solve this puzzle you will be able to open the secret compartment. Take the journal. Look at Marie Antoinette’s portrait on the wall. Look at the floor in the middle of the room. Return to your room and set the alarm for 3 a.m. to meet Professor Hotchkiss in the lounge. Talk to her about everything. Give her the journal. She says she will translate it for you and will have it ready by this time the next night. Go up to your room and set the alarm for 3 a.m. Go down to the lounge and talk with Professor Hotchkiss. She tells you that she translated the entire journal and as an extra bonus it includes Marie’s official decoder. Go up to her room and read the translation to the right of the typewriter, along with the decoder. Go back to the tower. Place the medallions on the floor with red on the left, blue on the right, and green in the middle. Go to Marie’s portrait and you will see a hot spot on the purple rose. Use the tip of the spear you got from the tin soldier to chip away at the portrait and you will get an odd-looking key. Place the key in the center of the medallions. The middle of the floor will open and a pedestal with a diamond will come up. The diamond thief will also appear and spray your eyes with pepper spray. As the diamond thief tries to run down the stairs, quickly find the square stone button on the left side on the wall of the stairs and push it. You will trap the diamond thief. Nancy has solved another mystery!
